The Royal Spanish Skating Federation (RFEP) has officially announced the preselection call-up for the Spanish Speed Skating National Team in the youth, junior, and senior categories, to be held on June 20–21, 2026, in Pamplona. The training camp will bring together top national talent and serve as a first major step in preparation for the season's international commitments. The call-up is directed by national coach Garikoitz Lerga Nicolay and includes broad representation from clubs and federations across Spain. Among the selected athletes are established names such as Chevi Guzmán (Celta Patín), described as a current world reference in speed; Ruth Arza (Txantrea), a leading national sprint specialist; and Adrián Alonso (Rolling Lemons), Paula Rodríguez Udi (San Juan), Carla Plana (Nàstic), Leyre Montiel (Astur Patín), Uxue Cruz (Txantrea), and Adriá Fernández (CPV El Prat), among many other young talents. The RFEP also published a list of selectable athletes, highlighting the competitive depth in Spanish skating. The camp will focus on technical and tactical work, with sprinters doing specific 200m and 500m sessions and distance skaters working on elimination, points, and race strategies. A key priority is relay work and group cohesion, aiming to strengthen team unity and collective dynamics on and off the track. Sessions will cover attack and defense strategies in distance races, fatigue management and recovery in rounds, line changes and race control, relay techniques and trajectories, and competitive management and stress control. The camp also seeks to build a solid group identity for future international competitions.
