How ODYTA collects, uses and protects personal data, and the rights you have.

Who operates ODYTA

ODYTA is a global discovery and context platform for inline and ice speed skating. It is operated by Adriano Santos, an individual (natural person), under the name ODYTA.

You can contact ODYTA through the Support page or by email at odyta.data@gmail.com.

About ODYTA

ODYTA aggregates, validates, contextualises and links publicly available speed skating information — athletes, events, results, teams, brands, news and media — so the sport is easier to discover. ODYTA does not run competitions, registrations, payments, heat generation, penalties or other operational race management.

Personal data we process

Account data. If you create an account, we process your email address and the name you provide, together with authentication data handled by our authentication provider. This is used to identify you and to support athlete, team and brand claims.

Submissions and enquiries. When you report an issue, suggest a correction, make a suggestion or send an enquiry, we process what you submit — which may include your name, email address (optional for some forms) and the content you write, including any source URL you provide. Submissions enter a private review inbox and are never applied automatically to published data.

Claim information. If you claim an athlete, team or brand profile, we process the name, role, evidence and contact details you provide for verification.

Technical and functional data. We store a language preference cookie and small browser preferences (such as your chosen time display) so the site works as you expect. See the Cookies page.

Public sporting data. The core of ODYTA is publicly available sporting information: athlete names, nationalities, results, club and team affiliations, photos and media, attributed to their public sources. This data relates to a person's public or professional sporting activity.

Why we process this data (legal bases)

Accounts and claims: we process account data to provide the account and claim features you request, on the basis of performing our agreement with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

Enquiries and reports: we process what you submit on the basis of our legitimate interest in reviewing and responding to requests and corrections (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Functional cookies and storage: strictly necessary for the site to work, and for the preferences you choose (ePrivacy Directive).

Public sporting data: we process publicly available sporting information on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a discovery platform for the sport (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Sources and recipients

Sporting information is collected from public and official sources such as governing bodies, federations, timing providers, event organisers and media. Each record preserves its source attribution and provenance where available.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use advertising networks or tracking services. Personal data is accessible only to ODYTA and to the service providers that host and operate the platform on our behalf.

Third-party services

Supabase provides authentication, database and media storage for ODYTA, acting as our data processor.

Vercel hosts the ODYTA application, acting as our data processor.

Embedded media. Some pages embed YouTube videos (in privacy-enhanced mode) and map views. These load only when you choose to play or open them, and the relevant providers process data under their own policies when they load.

Automated tools may assist ODYTA in processing public content during ingestion, but they are not used to track visitors to this site.

Cookies and tracking

ODYTA uses only strictly necessary and functional cookies and browser storage, and does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Details are in the Cookies page.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and we delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists, and is deleted or anonymised when you ask us to delete your account or after a prolonged period of inactivity.

Support and claim submissions are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to review and resolve them, and for accountability and security record-keeping.

Public sporting data is kept for as long as it remains relevant to ODYTA's purpose as a discovery platform.

Because our processing is activity-based rather than tied to fixed schedules, we do not publish a single fixed retention period; retention is assessed against the criteria above.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have rights to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis of processing. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the Support page or at odyta.data@gmail.com.

Account deletion and data requests

To request deletion of your account, or to ask about the personal data we hold about you, contact us through the Support page or at odyta.data@gmail.com. We will respond in line with applicable law.

Children

ODYTA is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Accounts and claims are intended for adults and authorised representatives.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The 'last updated' date at the bottom of this page shows when it was last revised.
