ODYTA Summary
Colombian speed skating will resume its competitive calendar with the 3rd National Interclub Qualifier, senior category, to be held November 11–15 at the Parque Recreo Deportivo – PRD – El Salitre track in Bogotá. The event will count toward the national ranking and allow athletes to continue accumulating points toward the formation of Colombia's national teams for the 2027 season. The competition marks the return of national activity following the Colombian delegation's participation at the World Skate Games Asunción 2026, where the country again demonstrated its prominence in world speed skating. The previous national qualifier had been held in September in Guarne, Antioquia. Alberto Herrera Ayala, president of the Colombian Skating Federation, stressed the importance of maintaining continuity in the competitive calendar, describing it as fundamental to athlete development across the country's clubs and leagues and to the process of forming national teams for 2027 international commitments. He noted the year included the World Championships, the Pan American Championships of Nations, Olympic-cycle events such as the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo and the South American Games in Santa Fe, and an international tour through Siena and Senigallia, Italy, adding that the goal is to maintain that winning path through rigorous planning and adherence to the sports calendar. The program begins Wednesday, November 11, with the technical meeting, and competition starts Thursday, November 12, with 200-meter head-to-head races in all convened categories.
