ODYTA Summary

A group of mothers and fathers in Talavera de la Reina has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the situation facing skating in the city, saying that since last March they have not had adequate facilities to carry out the different disciplines normally. The situation affects athletes at various levels, from beginner and school skating to speed skating, as well as adults who practice the sport. The families say they have submitted nearly 1,000 signatures to the city council requesting appropriate spaces for skating and have held meetings with municipal officials to find a solution. They are now also seeking the support and dissemination of the skating world to highlight the importance of sports schools as the base for the growth of any discipline. Beginner and school skating allows the youngest to learn about the sport, develop skills such as balance, coordination and perseverance, and later discover disciplines such as speed skating. RollerZone said it wants to help give visibility to this request from a sporting and constructive perspective, hoping that families, the club and institutions can find a solution that allows skating to continue growing in Talavera de la Reina.
