Sporting biography

Johana Viveros Mondragon of Colombia began speed skating at the age of 10 in the Alfonso Barberena neighbourhood park in Cali, Colombia. She first appeared at The World Games in 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland, winning gold in the Road Elimination Race 20,000 m and bronze in the Road Point Race 10,000 m. By 2022 she had widened her repertoire to include track racing, and at The World Games 2022 she was the most successful athlete of the edition, taking four gold medals and one silver across Speed Skating Track/Road, including gold in the Track Elimination 10,000 m, Point Elimination 10,000 m and Sprint 1,000 m. She was named The World Games Athlete of July 2022 and was recognised as second Best World Athlete of the year for The World Games 2022 — a first for roller sports. She also won the Marathon at the Speed World Championships in Italy, took silver in the 10,000 m points/elimination at the Inline Skating World Championships, and later won the Pro Women title of the World Skate Marathon Tour, whose final racing took place on the streets of Asunción.
